Basically a “scareware” is a malicious rogue software program having as a goal to trick computer users into purchasing and downloading useless and potentially dangerous software. They usually generate pop-ups that look like legitimate Windows system messages pretending to be windows repair tools or anti-spyware programs. The rogue antivirus or repair tool malware executes a fake computer scan and warns the users that several viruses and other problems are found on their computer. Then they prompt the user to pay a certain fee in order for the rogue antivirus to fix their computer problem. Needless to say that if the user pays the money, the rogue antivirus will not help them at all.
